 How can you enjoy Venice?
Yes, of course, rooms can run all the way from a few hundred dollars to over a thousand dollars, but Venice is another destination that draws tourists of all budgets. In fact, if you plan ahead, you should be able to find very comfortable hotels for less than $100. Venice is a city of tourists and that always means that you will end up paying a lot more for everything, particularly if you do not speak Italian. All the way from restaurants serving meals to the guy who takes you on that must-have gondola ride, everything costs a lot more for the tourists. So do your research prior to leaving and budget accordingly. Another option to consider is to visit Venice as part of a package tour. Of course, you will have a lot less freedom and flexibility, but almost everything will be paid for and you may not have to compare prices all the time. Several airlines sell packages for Italy that include Venice.
A more adventurous option is to go on a learning vacation to Italy/Venice. Mostly operated by schools and universities or other non-profit organizations, you can learn more about culture, language, arts, etc., and get to do everything else that tourists do at a much lower price. Accommodations are mostly with local families.
