Enjoy pink sandy beaches in Bermuda |
|
Bermuda is a favorite vacation destination of stars like Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones, Seal and Heidi Klum, Patti LaBelle, and Joss Stone. And if you are old enough to remember when The Deep created a big stir on box office, the movie was actually filmed in Bermuda.
More importantly, though, Bermuda is known for its beaches and people. In fact Bermudans often joke that they are so romantic that "even our beach is blushing." That's right! Bermuda has pink beaches.
How to have a great time in Bermuda like the stars?Everyone eventually finds their way to the historic Town of St. George (designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO) in the East End of the island where the townspeople live among four centuries of history. In the West End, the refurbished Royal Naval Dockyard, the Bermuda Maritime Museum and the restored Commissioner’s House exhibit the grandeur of Bermuda’s naval heritage and maritime history.
Wherever you stay, the ocean is never more than a mile away. Plus, it has many options for wreck diving (many ships have been sunk over time and provide excellent opportunity to witness unique flora and fauna). More than 80 restaurants and 40 cafes and coffee shops cater to every budget and taste, from posh to inexpensive. Come nightfall, put on your dancing shoes and explore Bermuda’s nightlife.
Bermuda’s gracious accommodations range from world-class resort hotels and cottage colonies (most with state-of-the-art spas or spa services and exercise facilities) to intimate bed and breakfast inns, cottages, suites and apartments.
How to get to this tropical paradise?
Direct flights to Bermuda take anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours from most gateway cities on the North American eastern seaboard, and 7-9 hours when flying from major European airports.
