It is reported that Brad Pitt was looking for prime real estate in Dominican Republic (DR) during the first week of April 2006. As you may recall, it was in the Dominican Republic that Angelina Jolie started to show off her rapidly growing belly early this year. She was filming the movie The Good Shepherd with Matt Damon. During her time in the beautiful, sunny Caribbean nation, Angelina is said to have told a charity aid worker in Santo Domingo, “Yes, I am pregnant.” And then the tabloids took over.Apparently, both Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, like most Hollywood celebrities, like the country so much that they have decided to get a home there. Dominican Republic is not a bad place to live. In fact many famous people have vacation homes there.
Oscar de la Renta, the famous designer, co-owns luxurious properties in his native country. A resort called Casa de Campo is famous for its luxurious and stylish accommodation right on the beach (and celebrity sightings - Mark Anthony, Sting, Alicia Keys - you name it, they are there). The country is relatively well connected to the USA with frequent flights. And unlike some of the other countries in the region, it is relatively safe.  Dominican Republic must be a great place considering that Brad and Angelina are world travelers. Just last year they visited Kenya, England, Ethiopia, Canada, Tokyo, and Pakistan (for earthquake relief work), where they spent Thanksgiving. During their time in France, they have visited many countries, but they apparently think that the Dominican Republic is the best country to buy real estate.
Besides the beaches, Dominican Republic offers most of the comforts we enjoy in the USA, including all the restaurants chains and the passion for baseball. The natives are fun loving, friendly, and caring people. Dominicans are great hosts too. The local media knows how to let their celebrity guests enjoy their privacy.If you cannot or wish not to have your home next to Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, you may want to visit the island. Dominican Republic is an ideal place for vacations at a lower price than other Caribbean islands. And if you are ready to wed, consider a destination wedding in Santo Domingo.
