Street musicians in Washington Square |
|
Washington Square Park is a vast open area next to Washington Arch in the heart of the Greenwich Village and right next to NYU. On a nice weekend day in spring and summer, it is full of people just enjoying the weather or moms with kids playing in the grass or fountains, and of course, teenagers rollerblading. In all that cacophony, are some of the local street musicians playing fine music. I always like to stop and listen for a few minutes. After walking and standing for too long, it is a great way to enjoy local artists and take a break. I have been told that if you stop to listen, you should leave a donation, howsoever small. These artists do not demand a charge to listen to their music but they are also trying to make a living.
