Can you believe in America (the richest country in the world that spends the highest amount in the world on healthcare) as many as 60 million people are without healthcare and many more live in poor health due to the totally broken healthcare system?  Who is to blame?  Mostly Republican politicians who are in bed with healthcare companies, pharma companies, and doctors to deny access to basic health services.  And Michael Moore, the film director who is never afraid to take on controversial topics, has come up with "Sicko," a remarkable movie that highlights the challenges of people like you and I.  Watch this video clip of what he thinks about the film.

As can be expected, healthcare is a sensitive issue for politicians.  While Republicans will do anything to deny Americans the right to see a doctor when they need it, the Democrats have been desperately fighting for decades to give that right.  Naturally, as a presidential election approaches, it is already forcing politicians to speak about an issue that matters most to Americans: access to a doctor.  Watch this another video about presidential politics.

While we would all love to work on a spy project (thanks to James Bond we think that spying is fun, forgetting that in real life, it is outright dangerous and perks do not include women in bikinis ready to sleep with you).  That is why "Burn Notice" is such an interesting program to watch because it shows that spying or collecting intelligence is not a joke but serious business, but spies too have their moments of fun and pleasure.  Watch the video below for a review.

Angelina Jolie is a remarkable woman and actor and she does a terrific job of transforming herself for each role that she plays, but how do you become the person that is living and happens to be a friend.  That was the challenge that she faced when she decided to play the widow of Daniel Pearl in the film "The Might Heart."  It so turns out that even before Brad Pitt came up with the idea to go ahead with the movie, both Angie and Marianne Peral were already close friends and so were their children.  Generally speaking when Hollywood celebrities play roles that are new for them (e.g. when John Travolta became a firefighter in Ladder 49), they spend days/weeks working or visiting or learning about these roles.  Definitely, the friendship with Marianne helped Angelina Jolie become a better her.  Watch her video interview below.

I admire the relationship that Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, and Ashton Kutcher have, but we now have another interesting couple out there: Larry Birkehead and Howard Stern.  As you might know, Birkhead is the father of Dannielynn, the daughter of Anna Nicole Smith.  Howard Stern, on the other hand, was Smith's companion and assumed all along that he was the father.  After a lot of legal drama, Birkhead has been declared the father and guardian of Dannielynn, and while I am sure Howard Stern is disappointed but instead of fighting with Birkhead, he has stepped aside and become his partner so that they can do what is best for Anna's daughter.

My wife and I were speaking about Daniel Pearl and we were debating what Jew in his right mind would travel to Pakistan, a country that is known to be home to hundreds of thousands of terrorists, and possibly Osama Bin Laden and other Taliban members, but he did, because above everything else, he was a professional.  He was simply doing his job to find the best possible information for a story and bring it to everyone else.  Sadly he was brutally murdered and his wife Marianne Pearl helped Angelina Jolie play her character in the movie "A Mighty Heart."  Not surprisingly, Brad Pitt owned the rights to the movie and he has said that he did not know how to approach the topic with her.  But when he did suggest to his "girlfriend" that he wanted her to play the lead role, she enthusiastically accepted it.  What a couple!  Watch the video story below that has some background on this remarkable movie, including clips, and an interview with Angie.

I wonder when John Travolta recently defended fellow Scientologist Tom Cruise regarding the use of depression drugs, was he doing it to create news so that his movie "Hairspray" will be a hit.  Who knows?  One thing is for sure, though.  Hairspray is a remarkable movie and John Travolta is the best and so is Queen Latifah.  The Broadway play has been a smashing success and I am sure we will all love the big-screen version.  Here is a video with clips from the film and interviews with the cast members, including John Travolta.

Remember Steve Carell from the Daily Show working with Jon Stewart?  He has come a long way since then starring in The office, 40 Year Old Virgin, and Little Miss Sunshine.  Now one of the most popular comedy stars has done a remarkable job in "Evan Almighty."  In this movie, the background is historical and religious (Christian) but if you like to laugh and have a good time at the movies, you will enjoy it.  Watch this video of a brief interview of Steve Carrell and clips from the movie.
