If you follow the Hollywood celebrity travel gossip, one destination that keeps popping up is Turks & Caicos. It does not pop up as much during the water cooler chitchat, though. Why? It is a little bit out of the way and not so easy to get to as St Barths or St Lucia. However, if you are willing to spend just a little bit more on flying time and do not mind changing planes, this is one island you don't want to miss. Here is a video report on one of the best resorts.
Earlier I had highlighted the Setai Hotel in South Beach Miami area as a great place to vacation and spot celebrities, if that is also your passion. As you make up your mind about staying there, here is a great video by Laura Landro and it shows you how good certain things are (restaurants, breakfast buffet, pools, decoration, etc.) and what is not so good (the not-so-good view from some rooms).
Everything in Las Vegas is big and beautiful and that is true about The Palazzo. And inside this casino resort are over 375 concierge-level suites and six villas (up to 11,000 square feet each -- that is five times the size of what I think is a big house) which will have 3-4 bedrooms, 3.5-4.5 baths, extensive living areas, media rooms, private pools, private jacuzzis, private salons, massage areas, heated spas, personal gyms and, in some cases, private putting greens. One of the hottest places to hang out there is the Club 40/40 restaurant and lounge owned by Jay-Z and no surprise there that Beyonce and Solange along with many other Hollywood celebrities were there to celebrate.
I love these works of art that include women in short shorts and big breasts in fuchsia bikini tops. If that model happens to lean on a car from the sixties, even better. I wonder why they don't have such fairs more often and in more places - this one was in London.
Remember I highlighted about the ultimate vacation at the Ritz Carlton or a vacation at Necker Island? Well, none of these are for the poor folks like me but it doesn't hurt to talk about them. Now, here is yet another "deal" at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco which will blow your mind. For just $100,000 for two nights, you can literally have it all, including diamonds, Rolex watches, private chef, and a Maserati to cruise around the Bay Area. This is a somewhat more luxurious version of what the Mandarin Oriental was offering.
While we all like to make money, Hollywood celebrities seem to do better. When I heard of Ooma (a company that allows you to make phone calls for free the rest of your life by buying a device for $400) boasting of Ashton Kutcher as an investor, I was not surprised when I learned that Justin Timberlake has opened a restaurant Southern Hospitality in (1460, Second Avenue at 76th Street) New York City, I was not surprised at all. Here is a photo of Justin Timberlake wearing one of those trademark (and funny) hat. By the way, the food is pretty good even though most celebrity-owned restaurants have mediocre food.
When I said that only idiots go to be brutally treated by bulls in Pamplona (Spain), you probably didn't believe me. As a man you probably thought that I was scared. Well, if you still don't believe how a bull can hurt you, watch this video. You will see people get seriously injured. And of course, while drinking lots of alcohol makes you stupid enough to do it, alcohol is no help in preventing injuries.
You would think that what sensible person would risk his (yes, mostly men do this) life just for the chance of outrunning a bull. Aren't there better things to do in life than compete with an animal (the other one that is equally stupid is eating the most number of hot dogs)? Apparently not for some people in Pamplona, Spain. The attendance at the San Fermin bull runs is high and it is not just the Spaniards that participate now. People from all over the world join (or at least watch) the race. Take a peek at what happens but if you are really intrigued by it, don't run; just watch. It is also a great excuse to get drunk.
During summer time, New York City is a place for spending time outdoors, for example, attending the Puerto Rico day parade, or even better, the Coney Island Mermaid parade, in which the residents of this area dress up as mermaids. If you have been to New Orleans, then it should remind you of the festivities during the Mardi Gras festival. If you have never been to New York City, well, then Coney Island is the part that you will see so very often in movies. When characters in a movie bring their children to an amusement park from their tiny apartments in Manhattan, this is the place they go to. Here is a video and a few interesting photos of the parade.
